How OSI Doubled Chicken Production Capacity

OSI Food Solutions in Spain was recently able to double their chicken production capacity. This expansion for OSI would mean success and the ability to add opportunity for jobs. The amount of food produced there now totals more than 45,000 tons of chicken, pork, and beef. This was good news after the company chose to add their high-capacity production line. Having invested more than 17 million pounds, the company had high expectations for their profitability. The big number was the number of processed chicken products going from 12,000 tons to 24,0000 tons. What other benefits has the company seen as the result of the move with OSI Food Solutions?

The people of Portugal and Spain are responding. The Managing Director of OSI Food Solutions Spain knows all too well just how much the demands have grown with the need for chicken there. This expansion has come at a good time for the company and these countries. Achieving growth of more than 6%, OSI Food Solutions is ready to continue growing and developing a plan for greater things to come. The new building, with more than 22,000 square feet will accommodate that growth and the coming changes as they continue to occur. There were many areas that were needed to aid in this project including a new production hall, refrigerated rooms for better cold storage, supply storage for the facility, shipping and receiving docks and more.

The main goal overall was for the expansion to assist in adding to the company’s portfolio down the road. At this time there has been no official announcement as to what those items would be to aid in the size of their portfolio, but it will be worth waiting for in the near future as the company continues to seek areas where they can solve problems with the food supply and distribution.

David McDonald, the President and COO of OSI Food Solutions is looking forward to a brighter future and more advancements within the industry. Recently in an article, he mentions that the current excitement is all in regards to adding jobs and overall growth for the company.
